Sega CD Model 2 Disc Not Reading *video*

Hey everyone. I've started to get into repair/refurbishing of old consoles and have run into an issue with a Sega CD model 2. The disc spins, but won't read correctly. It kind of repeatedly clicks and spins while the screen says "checking disk." Here's a video I took of the problem:



I tried the following:
-Cleaned lens
-Switched the faulty cd assembly out with a working one, worked fine
-Switched the faulty cd assembly ribbon cable with working cd assembly ribbon, still didn't work, so it's not the cable

must be the lens or something in the lens assembly. Any thoughts?

The track and gears may need some attention. Could just be a dead laser, but if it's clicking, it may not be moving freely on the track.
