Favorite Halo Game?

Post by KayJay »

(Not sure weather i should post this here, or on the MS board. :/)

I recently got into playing Halo, and it is a really great series that is much better than people give it credit. A lot of people like to group it in with "brodude" games like battlefield & CoD, but Halo has a lot going for it. :D

Anyways, I've played 1, 2, 3, & ODST, and I've beaten 1 & 3.

My personal favorite is Halo 3; It was my first Halo game, and i love the open-endedness of it, even when compared to the others. The only problem i can think of is that the story is hard to follow, but it's not that big of a deal for me. :)
Currently Playing: Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd (PS3)

Probably my favorite would be the PC release of Halo Combat Evolved. Sunk so much time into that game  . Probably beaten the game 20-30 times if I count Xbox play throughs.

Not really sure if I could pin down a favorite out of the whole series though since they all have different things going for them. I will say Halo 3 was quite an experience when the 360 first came out.

Can't wait for the Master Chief Collection to come in Monday will probably blow through CE-4 again in a week or two.

Hipster.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but going off the number of times I've replayed each, I guess my favorite is Combat Evolved. The mystery of the game world, the quality of level design, the impact it had on nearly all future FPS games, the smoothness of the graphics for such an old console game, and the novelty of it all the first time around really set it apart from the other Halo games. I'd put it in the same category of timeless FPS classics such as Half Life, Quake, Goldeneye, and Doom.

Halo 2 and 3 were very much products of the moment, by comparison, ODST is its own thing, and Reach is my second favorite. 4 was bafflingly generic and dull, and somehow the graphics seemed to take a step back from Reach.

I played and enjoyed the hell out of Halo 1. I tried Halo 2 and it just didn't pull me into the game like 1 did. I haven't played the rest so I won't judge them. So my answer would have to be Halo 1.

2 by far, it was everything halo 1 was but bigger and better. I really only enjoyed the first 3 Halo games, the games just got stale and boring after.

In terms of campaigns, I'd rank them:

1) Halo 2
2) Halo Reach
3) Halo
4) Halo 3
5) Halo 4
6) Halo ODST

Reach has great multi and is probably the best overall total Halo package, though.

Halo on Xbox, the third one red ringed my 360. Never finished it.
