Elite: Dangerous - PC/XB1/PS4
Couldn't find a dedicated thread. This game is extraordinary. You have the entire galaxy to explore, smuggle goods, traffic slaves (which paid for my new ship btw), trade legitimate wares, take bounties... This game was made for space nerds like me.

I've held off on playing this because I want to carve out some large amount of time to really dive into it. I think I might hold off and wait until the end of the year when I take a week or so off with my excess vacation time.

So I took a bounty mission for around 50k Credits. Not a whole heck of a lot tbh, but the target was only in the next system so it was a short drive.
I find the target and lock him in an interdiction field to drag him out of supercruise speed. We fight and I fiiiinaally get his shield down to directly attack his ship and the system's police show up to see what's going on. All five of them bombard his ship and he explodes in two seconds...
MISSION FAILED
REWARD ZERO
...a message pops up on my HUD: [Interstellar Police] "All clear. Carry on, pilot."
Screw the police.

Elite is hard to get in to but I like it a lot. Unfortunately I don't really feel like putting in the time investment into it that it requires to get anywhere.
Older. Not wiser.

Flying a spaceship feels like a tractor with pitch and yaw controls.

Guess I'll keep talking to myself until Popo gets it. haha
I just got back to populated systems from a trip towards the center of the galaxy. I didn't venture too far out but I made enough credits to pay for a new ship with great range. Although, instead of immediately heading back out into the unexplored night, I'll need to spend some time earning money to pay for upgrades. I'd like a better FSD and other equipment so I can make even larger jumps between systems.

I've been doing my space exploration in 1986. I do plan on doing a major Elite session, it's just not going to be coming for a while.

Been getting my Starflight on. I've finally hit a groove where I feel like I understand how to successfully play the game and now I'm following the various breadcrumbs the game is providing for its story.
