Re: what are the best jrpgs
Top 5 best I've played:
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Vagrant Story
Phantasy Star (whole series)
Ys Origin
Final Fantasy XII
I'd bother to explain why, but I just got three fillings and half my face feels like it's got a thousand nine volt batteries shocking it continuously.
Also, Dunpeal has exceptional taste.

Re: what are the best jrpgs
Don't make me do this right now! I have much work to do!
Anyway, Chrono Trigger reigns supreme at the top of my list. I'd put The Last Story right under it.
I'm a big Dragon Quest fan, and if I had to choose my absolute favorites from that series, it's going to be III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII. Top spot probably going to... let's just go with IV because I've got a lot of sentimental reasons.
More, more... Lufia II is right up there with FFIII on SNES. Phantasy Star IV is my favorite Genesis RPG. I loved Tales of Symphonia. Valkyrie Profile is different but amazing.
I'll stop there for now.

Country of origin aside, don't they share more with WRPG design?
