I am hoping the games do not go away after June since the games can be played thru the WiiU. I hate buying DRM games, but there are a couple of very good ones that will eventually be vaporware.![]()
I bought Vampire Crystals a while back and just bought And Yet It Moves. Both good games are worth getting though I wish there were a permanent disc copy. Still debating on Wiiware World Of Goo, already own the DRM free disc version on the PC.
All three Wiiware games mentioned above have a free download Demo with playable levels; there are 52 Wiiware game demos available to test run for FREE!
Vampire Crystals can be played with a Classic Controller as a Twinstick game! Oh and with a Mayflash adapter and a PSX Twinshock Arcade stick; Robotron with Zombie kills, beautiful Arcade Controls and sooo much fun!
And Yet It Moves also is on the PC as DRM free download, but the world can only be twisted at 90 degree intervals. Only the Wii version offers full 360 spin control of the world!ejamer wrote:Fluidity - The best "hidden gem" I've found on WiiWare. Absolutely get this game. Plays like PSP Loco Roco. I redeemed the full game thru the Club Nintendo Coins.

I put a few hours into this:

I wish I could say it's a good game, but I'm still not sure. It has great graphics and music, but there's some really dumb game design at times. Plus it's actually harder than the original! Worth playing a bit though for nostalgia's sake.
ejamer wrote:There are a pretty good number of games worth trying, but many are very niche so you'll have to decide if they appeal to you or not. Games I would recommend looking into:
And Yet It Moves - Cheaper elsewhere, but motion controls of the WiiWare version are top notch. (Did they ever upgrade the PC version to allow partial rotation, or is it still limited to 90 degree turns? That might make WiiWare the definitive version, if they haven't carried the change back to PC.)
Art Style (series) - All great games, although Light Trax and Cubello were probably my favorites. Consistently simple presentation with compelling gameplay.
Bonsai Barber - This game didn't really do it for me... but it was clearly an interesting and well-made experience.
Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth - Great classic Castlevania (pre-SotN design). I thought this was more interesting than the Contra or Gradius ReBirth releases.
CueSports: Pool Revolution - I always felt like pool was a great application for motion controls, but didn't seem many good implementations. This was pretty decent.
Dive: The Medes Islands Secret - Haven't actually played yet, but sounded super appealing so I purchased it recently.
Driift Mania - Bringing back the Ivan Ironman Stewart Off-Road experience. Awesome multiplayer if you have a few buddies in the same room; not really worth getting otherwise.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (series) - Two different genres, but both are interesting and worth playing. Tons of DLC available for each game, but very little of that DLC is really significant in my opinion.
Fluidity - The best "hidden gem" I've found on WiiWare. Jumping should have been a button instead of motion... but a fantastic game design despite that flaw.
Let's Catch - Very much a WTF experience. Limited gameplay accompanied by a very weird storyline...
Lost Winds (series) - The second game is a better design, but both are beautiful and fun games. Very good use of pointer controls, which might be why they aren't available elsewhere?
Magnetica Twist - Reviewers complained about the controls... we never had a problem and thought the game was tons of fun. Played a lot of this with my wife.
Muscle March - So.. um.. I'm not recommending it exactly, but it's a unique drinking game/party experience to see who can march the furthest.
Rage of the Gladiator - Solid game, similar to Punch-Out!! but with skill upgrade trees and a fantasy setting. Also available (sometimes on sale) for 3DS eShop.
Tetris Party - Great implementation, lots of modes that are worth playing, better than the recent retail release even after online play was shut down. I really like the co-op mode. Pretty sure there is also a retail Wii release; not sure how it compares.
Tomena Sanner - Weird, but a fun diversion for a few minutes at a time.
WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase - Not worth getting on it's own, but if you have the full WarioWare D.I.Y. game on DS then the WiiWare title is a fantastic supplement that let's you create micro-games on the go and then play them on your big screen at home. (This is a fantastic set, by the way. Hugely under-appreciated in my opinion.)
You, Me, and the Cubes - Odd little action-puzzle game, but very interesting to play through.
Great WiiWare games that are probably be better on other platforms:
* Art of Balance
* Bit.Trip (series)
* Cave Story
* La-Mulana
* Retro City Rampage
* Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People (series)
* Swords & Soldiers
* Tales of Monkey Island (series)
* World of Goo
