Dragon Age Inquistition issues...(heavy sigh)
Dragon Age Inquistition issues...(heavy sigh)
Good Morning fellow racketeers,
looking for help after combing the interwebs for possible workarounds, but each attempt yields the same result - a painfully slow load time to the point i can't even get to the title screen.
Now, my PC specs are as follows:
i5 4460
8 GB RAM
r7 260x 2gb GPU (soon to upgrade to gtx970 like this week)
tons of HDD space
now, i just upgraded CPU's to run this game. This week i went from a intel dual core G3420 to a quad core i5 4460 and here's the thing. I installed originally with a dual core, and with the help of injectors, did get the game running and playing at 20 FPS, but laggy as I don't know what. Every 5 seconds the game would freeze up for a good 15 seconds. I figured with a quad core like the dev's recommend, I should see an improvement, instead, i went backwards, and the game is unplayable. Just booting the game is painfully slow and I have not even been able to get to the title screen yet due to super slow loading times. Any tips since my rig absolutely meets the req's? Many thanks in advance,

Re: Dragon Age Inquistition issues...(heavy sigh)
like you said, your hardware should be good to go. So I'm wondering if it's a driver issue.
Re: Dragon Age Inquistition issues...(heavy sigh)
I downgraded AMD's CCC to a version that many online have said have better settings specifically for DAI, but still no dice.

Could it be a power supply issue? Maybe not enough power to the new chip? Or a driver that needs updating for the chip?
I have a question: is the board compatible with the new chip?

PSU should be OK at 430W, updated the BIOS too as soon as I installed the chip, but will look into again.
Wondering why my CPU shoots up to 100% too on the loading screen. It's well documented across teh web, but can't
seem to pin down a solution.

430 is low. I have a feeling it is a PSU problem. You also have to pay attention to the amps on the rails. I am thinking the PSU is being overtaxed.

If you think the CPU shoots to 100% then you should get Coretemp.
I had an issue with my CPU when I ran GTA V. It was a heat issue. Coretemp ran an applet on my keyboard screen that displayed load and temperature. Getting a new cooler solved the problem (thanks noise). It is easier to use that applet running the game full screen than going on window mode and trying to gauge CPU load.
And yes that PSU is low. I'd get a new one before a new card. The new card would be next to useless without the correct amount of power* going to it.
*typo fix

ahhh thanks caster. any wattage you would recommend? Or is there any online "apps" for lack of a better term that will tell me what I should upgrade to based on my components?
*edit - found powersupplycalculator.net for running my components to see what PSU I should be at.

pcpartpicker will give you a ballpark. But I'd recommend at least 600W for a moderate gaming rig. But might be wise to go w/ a 750W for the small diff in price and know that you're pretty all set. Also make sure you're getting a Gold/Silver/Bronze Certified PSU of course.alexis524 wrote:ahhh thanks caster. any wattage you would recommend?
