Hey Everyone,
Well I did it. Tomorrow afternoon I am a homeowner. And after years and years of people here yelling at me to get one lmao, I finally got an nes everdrive.
My retro collecting days are over. I figured this will be like all of you said my best bet.
I'll start on the nes first and if that goes well then I'll pick up the snes next.
So between that and the ps1/2 I should be pretty occupied for a while.
But hey if anyone has any ps2/ps1 games they want to give me for a housewarming gift the cool with me lol.
Anyways that's my update. Tomorrow I move in at 1 pm.
Tomorrow I'm a homeowner and I bought an everdrive

Re: Mas's update on house and general things in life
Glad to hear, mas.
Two things...
First, are you sure you have to use up your vacation time for an illness? Most employers should allow use of sick time, or at least unpaid time (unless you prefer to use vacation).
Also, with any addiction, there will be ebbs and flows. If you are truly treating it as an addiction be very careful thinking you have it under control or you've beaten it. True addictions are never conquered, they are controlled, one day at a time.
Praying for you buddy - keep at it.

The nice thing is the more money you save up the better house you will have enough down payment for. When I was house hunting there were a lot of properties that were much worse in person than online. The biggest tip I can give there is avoid foreclosed homes; the previous occupants naturally wouldn't try to keep things in good condition and the banks do a minimum amount to keep the house from falling over while it's unoccupied.mas wrote:Hey Everyone,
So it's been a few weeks and I just wanted to give a quick update on what is going on in my life.
Well the house hunting sucks lol. We have been looking and we have been saving our money and paying off our past bills. The houses we have looked online at Zillow.com, they look good then we stop at the house then, utter disappointment. It's going to take a while but we will keep on saving our money.

Mike,
I've already used my sick time for sat and Sunday. So I'm using on 16 he's of vacation time since I already have wed and tgurs off on my schedule.
As for my "habit" goes, the most powerful tool you have on you is your mind. Everyday I set my mind to kill a little of that habit each day. I have my mind set and I look forward to go to a flea market and challenge myself. Plus my wife and kids help me out. Also I just look at my bank account each day and that controls it even more. So yeah I'm killing it and I now know I can do anything I want to if I put this mind to work. Well except for trying to get thru ninja gaiden on Xbox lol

Re: Mas's update on house and general things in life
Hope you get your health squared away asap.
Perhaps use the option of calling a realtor. Maybe I was lucky with mine, but after a a five minute call of saying "I want to pay x and get x" she took my wife an I on a parade of homes that truly matched my description.

We already have a real estate agent Luke. We just go to the house first before we make the phone call to our agent and waste both of our times. If we go first and look inside and see what we like we will make the phone call and have a look inside.

Hopefully things will go better in the future. I had to get rid of two agents before finding the right one.
Re: Mas's update on house and general things in life
Time off at work goes like two ways really. You have vacation and then sick time, but some companies (more) are moving towards rewarding a few more hours, but clumping all of sick and vacation into PTO (paid time off) which is what mine did a couple years back. I was kind of pissed about it at first but they gave a couple more hours a month so it wasn't that bad.
Funny coincidence, same thing happened starting late friday, was worse saturday and even worse than that on sunday when I went in and got some pills and an ointment for the same thing. Hurts like a bitch having to drain the thing but when it swells to where the upper lip looks like Lando's co-pilot you got a problem. A day later with that stuff, totally much better and no more fever either.
I wish I could look at my bank account and get that satisfaction you do, but my wife has a general failure in understanding the words stop and also not until the next paycheck which really ticks me off. I do the books so I basically have to lie to keep a little extra in there or it's gone when someone with no damn clue of what needs to be in the account (or perhaps the value of a dollar) has a debit card.

What did they say was the cause of the swelling of your face and lip? I'm seeing my doctor on Thursday so i m just curious. Was yours an abscessed or an allergic reaction to a foodTanooki wrote:Time off at work goes like two ways really. Re: Mas's update on house and general things in life
Seriously, get a used PC BEFORE you buy even one more game. As previously mentioned, Thrift stores have used PC towers for fifty bucks! Quite serviceable and you can go nuts "collecting" thru Mame and various console emulation as holdover until you buy the house. Just typing out your posts on a real keyboard as well as copy paste of the mouse button is sooo much easier versus a cell phone.mas wrote:Well the house hunting sucks lol. As for my gaming habit's I haven't been anywhere at all. The games that I own I have been playing till I beat them. I appreciate the games better and I haven't looked or had withdrawals for retro games or collecting.
The only system/s I own is xbox 360 and original xbox for games that don't work on the 360. My first purchase will be on may 7 on my birthday. My wife is letting me get marvel vs Capcom 2 for the xbox. Its going to be around 25.00. Im going to have to get either from amazon or ebay.
When buying a home, you can ALWAYS back out if you do not sign the CLOSING documents
This a handy tool if something does not look right such as cracked foundation or the wrong type of loan rate. I got a lower fixed rate (market dropped) when I refused to sign the closing documents, even though the loan paperwork was already in.
Oh and hire your own Building inspector NOT one recommended by the seller or real estate agent, also check the city codes for lot designations of not only your block but the surrounding blocks. You do not want a 7/11 store put in five years later across the street. Do both yourself by personally visiting the City Planning Department Office and telephoning different inspectors for rates.
