hey so this game is out now. Anyone tried it yet? I've never played a MOBA, so no idea if I'd like it. But reviews are pointing to this one as being really accessible, so I'm intrigued. Plus it's free.
I played the Alpha and Beta. It's really enjoyable, games last upwards to maybe 30 minutes. It's a fun MOBA that's fairly straightforward and not formed around a changing meta-game (players deciding how the game is shaped through hero selection, abilities, etc). You get into games, play for the objective, and kill the baddies. In terms of complicated game mechanics, I'd say Heroes of the Storm was more accessible than League of Legends, and DotA2 being the most complicated of the most popular MOBAs.
I'd say it's worth a download. I am willing to jump into a few games if everyone is interested.
I downloaded it over the weekend. Did the tutorial. I'm not certain I've wrapped my head around this MOBA thing. It's certainly not as immediately gratifying as Hearthstone was for me (I know, different genre), but I'm planning to spend some time with this before forming any solid opinions.
It definitely plays different from the other MOBAs out there. Towers are easier to push and there's more action early. And then there's the per-map sidequests that need to be gone after because of how great they are for snowballing, so you don't spend the first 15 minutes of the game laning and last hitting.
I was in the closed test period and found it to be fun, but at this point I'm not too interested in spending time with multiplayer games; I've been focusing on the backlog.

I think it's a great and fairly polished game. You can log on, play a match or two, and feel satisfied. I like that type of experience. It's similar how I feel to Hearthstone, there's some pretty fair balance and polish to the gameplay and design. For MOBA prists it won't be of interest, but if you are interested getting into the genre it's a good first step.
I've only done some of the tutorial stuff myself. And having never played a MOBA, this is all new to me. I plan to spend some more time with it at some point.
