Tony Hawk Pro Skater (and other) Weekend May 1-3, 2015

Post by mjmjr25 »

Greetings,

Similar to Mario weekend - we will be having a THPS weekend next month. Lately my boys (9 and 7) have been tearing it up on THPS and THPS2...TEARING it up.

I recall loving these games and playing THPS3 and 4, completing all challenges - was great fun. I tried bringing them out 2 years ago and they just couldn't get into it - couldn't get the controls down - just weren't digging it. Somewhat randomly they started playing the original THPS a few weeks ago...and it has become THE go-to game...like...addicted. They hum the songs all day long, on the way to school, in church, waiting for supper...it's...constant.

They have both surpassed me in trick competitions. My eldest hit 900K on a 10-minute trick run on THPS2. My high is around 500K...and that was awesome play, or so I thought. We do 2-minute H2H trick runs and both of them destroy me. They are truly savants when it comes to this. We got some LandWave ramp gear from the EB this weekend - so in addition to gaming - we'll be doing some actual tricks ourselves (I already had my first nasty fall yesterday).

So, 4 weeks from now is Tony Hawk weekend. In addition to the THPS series, we'll be diving into American Wasteland, Underground 1 and 2, and all of the Wii games...Downhill, Proving Ground, Shred and Ride (the latter 2 require the board accessory). I have heard mixed reviews on the Wii iterations - but will give them a go nonetheless - hope you will join us!

I am all for this, I love the THPS series, the first 4 I have 100%'ed (All Gaps as well), utterly love them. Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD is well worth a play for anyone who has not played it.

Proving Ground is a multiplat, not just a Wii game (it is horrid across all of them).

I'll join in with you Mike with Tony Hawk 1 & 2. Really the two games I dumped a lot of time in during my Middle School days, that and actually skateboarding. Jamie Thomas was my go-to skater for the games, with no real rhyme or reason.

And I'm guessing that them humming the THPS songs is better than them chanting Ballz at church, right?

I saw at Wal-Mart yesterday they were clearancing out the Wii Shred bundles for $15 and thought of your BST post. Not sure if you grabbed it yet.

I grabbed a CIB copy on ebay for $25, so...meh, overpaid I guess, but...my wal-mart doesn't have 'em anyways, so ida had to pay one of you to ship it anyways.

Are the Ride and Shred games compatible w/the same board...or do I need 2 different boards?

Tony Hawk 2x was one of the first games I bought with my oXbox at launch (believe it or not I didn't get Halo for almost a year later) man did I get addicted to it. Haven't touched a THPS game in over a decade though, would be fun to try it again.

I haven't played a Tony Hawk game in many years and sadly sold them a few years ago. Wish I didn't cause I miss playing them. Maybe I'll pick a few games up soon.

16 hours to go! Who's coming with?

Japan Air? We got 'em!

1080 Benihana over the ramp? Sure!

Put "The Ace of Spades" on loop for 72 hours? Obviously!!
