My CDX arrives tomorrow and I can't wait!

Post by Scooter »

I got really lucky with my Nomad purchase in that I got a like new Nomad in a very nice box with all the packing and packed in items. The ebay seller just provided a photo of the boxes of the Nomad and the items that came along in the package so I took a bit of a gamble and it turned out to be like new with not only no scratches on the screen, no scratches or blemishes whatsoever on the entire machine. The only downer was that the included rechargeable battery didn't work but he gave me a partial refund for that which sweetened the deal.

The CDX I recently bought looks to be in pretty good shape but the photos were kind of small. He stated it works perfectly but I'll believe it when I fire it up myself and see and hear it work. I sure hope the LCD display works as it should and lights up as it should since I understand those can be a weak point on these systems. And even though I tried to persuade the seller to ship it via the USPS or Fec/X he instead sent it via UPS and I've not had a lot of luck with UPS. I hope they don't deliver a box full of broken pieces!

Hoping for the best and greatly looking forward to having this cool new piece of hardware!

BTW, here's the auction that I won: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=014

Yeah, I paid a little too much, but I've wanted one of these for a looooong time. As a bonus, I don't already own any of the extra games that are included (I do own big box copies of Ecco and Sonic CD but not these pack-in versions).

UPS tracking showed it had been delivered so I went home over lunch to get it off the front porch and into the house. I only had a few minutes but I was able to power it up and see that it at least turns on with the power adaptor. I'll fire it up with batteries and try out music CDs and some games and see how it goes. It is cosmetically in nice shape as is the box though the box has some packing tape on it to keep the flaps closed (probably done by the retailer). Hopefull a little Goo Gone can take care of the tape residue. Call me a geek, but I like having the boxes and packing! The control pad looks a little skanky but a quick shot of 409 should take care of that. I've never actually owned a 6-button Genesis pad though I do have an Ascii-Pad arcade stick if I've ever needed a 6-buttoner.

Two of the games were claimed to not work. I'll bet with a little cleaning of the pins that they too will work.

It has been a long time since I saw a CDX in person, the last one I recall seeing was when they were new and I saw one in a retail store. I was pleasantly surprised at how compact it is. It's a great looking little machine!

What fun!

Is that badboy battery powered as well? I'm sure you'd look cool strolling around bumpin' some tunes into some headphones around the work place.

Puts the iPod to shame, that's for sure.

The batteries are only good to play audio CDs. To play games you need to plug it in with the AC adaptor.

Yeah, the batteries last about two hours. I used to rock the CDX as my car CD player...for two hours at a time. Oh the 90's...
