Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is getting localized.

Post by SonicGamer74 »

For those who don't know, SEGA made a game back in 2014 for Japanese arcades called, "Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax". Basically, it mixed and matched a bunch of characters from Dengeki Bunko's Anime/Manga/Light Novel selection, which includes Sword Art Online, Toradora!, Durarara!!, and various others, and had them fight each other in levels from SEGA games, like Phantasy Star Online 2, Sonic The Hedgehog, and various other games.

I've pretty much been following this game, even back when it was a concept (as I had gotten into Sword Art Online around the time the game was in development), and it sounded really interesting.

Also, the Dreamcast is part of the plot, from what I'm seeing. :)

It's going to be coming to PS3 and PSVita around Q3 2015, so we've still got a long way to go. But I'm ready for it; mainly because it's a 2D SEGA arcade fighting game. And SEGA's arcade games are pretty sweet, if you ask me.

Anyways, what are your thoughts? Do you guys think this will be any good?

It's anime, it's fighting, it's SEGA. I'm intrigued.

That's my thoughts. But not gonna lie, my Dengeki Bunko is not a brand on my radar. I guess they put out the Baccano light novels? I liked the TV series of that. I'd have to see a character roster to see if I actually recognize anyone.

Sword Art Online is a show I have almost no interest in. I never saw Durarara but am under the impression that it's kind of the poor-man's Baccano. I hated the Toradora anime...

I actually know nothing of the Dengeki Bunko brand myself, save for Sword Art Online. I mostly just want this, because of the fact it's a 2D fighting game, and I'm a total nerd with it comes to those.

Also, the full roster is available on the Wikipedia Page, since the game's been out in Japan for a year now.

Saw it being played at MAGFest. Looked fun, though I'm not really into anime fighters no matter how hard I try to get into them. Just hate their general mentality of "Fundamentals are nothing, 50+ hit combos that last for 10+ seconds yet still don't even take 33% life away are everything."

More fighting games are a good thing, or at least I once thought that. I honestly have trouble even considering myself a fighting game player anymore because they're all such crap these days. Reminds me of when FPS went from m/kb arena shooters to thumb stick health regenerators.

I might still give it a shot just because it's got Shana in it, but I'd be surprised if it lasts longer than a month. The only anime games with any staying power these days are Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, even the latest Persona fighter is already completely dead competitively.

Its French Bread game so many know what to expect from DFC.
Yeah. One of my good friends has been running casuals and Bi-weekly tournaments for the game since its JPN release a few months ago in my area. I played it for a bit. Got 3rd place in a local tournament using Akira Yuki. Game is ok...
But the general consensus amoung the anime/airdasher scene out here is that the game is essentially dead. People rather play Xrd, +R, BB or even UNIEL. So I'm rather surprised its getting released out here.

This is gonna sound terrible to say but i'm glad to hear I'm not the only who feel that way about the genre.
Seems all I play these days are HF, 3S, CvS2, A2 and am recently picking up Vsav in a serious manner and I'm having alot of fun with that.
I guess I'm getting too old for the new stuff. :?

i think that feeling would be general around here since we are all retro gamers after all.

honestly i had zero interest in this game as well, just hit my radar initially since it had Akira and Pai being a VF fan. then my friend me gave me copies of some of the anime. watched it and.. hey why not this might be a fun game for the crossover feel at least.

I'm more interested in the assist characters than the main roster. D:
I like Shana enough, Akira from Virtua Fighter's pretty okay... and they're the only ones I both recognize and like.

BUT ONE OF THE ASSIST CHARACTERS IS DOKURO FROM BLUDGIONING ANGEL DOKURO-CHAN! Holy shit, I want to play as her in a game.
