Apparently, this is the final Club Nintendo year (if that'll even matter).
New users won't be able to join beyond March, and all coin balances will need to be used by June when the service ends. Nintendo claims they will start another loyalty program in its place.
Club Nintendo and it's similar programs will be ending worldwide.
Nintendo claims they will be adding many new physical and digital items in February to allow people to clear out their coins.
Anyone whom is an active user prior to March will be able to secure a free copy of Flipnote Studio 3D for their troubles.
Very frustrating that we were one of the last regions to get access to this.

It sucks in Australia really, I am glad it is going and hope its replacement offer Digital goods to Aussies. I am not really interested in stationary and shoe laces.

This makes me sad. I'm glad they're adding new items though. I've got a ton of coins to burn up.

Yeah, I have like 700 coins I'm sitting on and I'm down to get some free swag!
Re: Club Nintendo is Being Replaced
Time to start registering all the codes. No need to save for platinum next year.
Hopefully they put up some nice things during the last push for people to spend coins.

So I'm puzzled, will there be any reward for Platinum or Gold for the end of this year? Because that would be slightly bullshit.
I'm not surprised though that it's ending -- the lack of physical rewards for gold and platinum last summer might have been a clear indication, we just weren't aware of the sunset.

Probably not - which sucks because I'm nearly platinum for the year already.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

It's sad to see it go, but I'm glad I saw the bolded. I almost went and spent all my coins on the 10 or so downloadable games they currently have.

Re: Club Nintendo is Being Replaced
This is sad and dumb.
I've spent some money on games to go platinum. Thankfully not much since I hustle and buy used to get points. But I feel a little bad for the people that pay full price.
I hope they really improve their next benefit program.
But all if this makes me wonder how many games out there never got their points redeemed? I've found plenty of games formerly owned by little kids which the points never got used.
Some parents out there don't like their kids online without their supervision. And they definitely dont want them doing weird surveys.
Someone should crunch numbers to see how many possible points exist in each official Nintendo game. And how many club Nintendo people actually redeemed them.
I'm thinking Nintendo is doing this to kill off any old game who's points are still valid. I've bought lots of used games with valid codes for less than $5 USD
Rather than lower the value of the games points, like they've done with wii games. They're simply gonna nullify them all across the board.
Better start putting in all those points people!
