Absolutely Rose Street - unearthed 32X promo

Post by Nemoide »

In 1994, Sega produced an infomercial to promote the 32X. What's really interesting is that it masquerades as a pilot for a TV show about a group of teenagers who make their own show-within-the-show about gaming. Part of me wonders if it might have been inspired by The Wizard in that it's designed to trick viewers into thinking they're watching something that isn't a video game commercial. ANYWAY, the whole thing has been digitized and put on YouTube along with some other information about it!

It's really STRANGE, even by the standards of mid-90s-Sega ad campaigns. And hey, American McGee is in it! He's still a recognizable name...

Infomercials masquerading as TV shows seemed to be pretty popular in the early 90s. I remember seeing an Apple infomercial that played itself like a Wonder Years knockoff.
