I'm having a real weird issue. I have a Model 2 Saturn with a Sanyo drive and I'm using Racketboy's chip that was on sale a while back. Audio CDs play fine but I have issues with games. About half of the time games (originals/backups) wont work period, a quarter they will start to work then midway through playing stop working, and the last quarter everything just works fine. Any ideas what could be causing this and any ideas how to fix it?
Edit: By 'not work' I mean the saturn sees the discs, but will either lock up on the under license screen or black screen right after
Modded Saturn not playing games
Re: Modded Saturn not playing games
My buddy had or has the same issues. I'm waiting to hear back on the uninstallation and success of the new modded cart exploit. I'll be heading to his house shortly to assess and continue the effort to make his exact-same Saturn work. We already looked at his mod, verified correct installation and flashed one of my old 3rd party PAR clones. I just gotta kick him in the arse to hopefully finalize his new mod. I'll update over the holiday.
Re: Modded Saturn not playing games
Great success! The 3rd party PAR didn't work, but he found an official Action Replay in a drawer and flashed it. After removing the mod chip and running the flashed AR his Saturn now runs all burnt and different region disks perfectly. This same Saturn used to be run for years with the swap trick, and it's running everything smoothly now. We feared it was a laser problem or something because of the original discs having problems as well.
Here's the thread where I found out about the cart flashing solution.
