Looking into Sega Genesis games again a little
Looking into Sega Genesis games again a little
I know the usual answer someone will throw around would be ebay, but I've been watching the sales thread here and on DP and I'm curious if there's another route to go in finding Genesis games online? I'm thinking with the R5 I have I'd like to get maybe a few of the old games I loved the most back like Dune, Star Control, Virtua Racing and a few other exclusives. eBay seems to be widely hit and miss depending on the game and how you want it. Craigslist in my area is a gaming bust.

Try tradengames.com. It has a good selection and decent prices.
You could also get a lot on shopgoodwill.com. The prices on that site are usually horrendous, the games are all sold "as-is", and the shipping and handling charges are outrageous. If, you buy a large enough lot, however, you can still get a good deal.
If that fails, try etsy.com. I have picked up a few games from that site, but the prices are all over the place.
Good luck!

Hmm yeah shopgoodwill is a disaster, but I forgot about etsy and I'll take a peek at tradengames.com too thanks.

40 built in games, play carts too:

The quality?
No idea. Maybe it is as good as the model 1 hi-res, but it looks a step above a simple plug and play.

I love the fact that multiple retailers carry that yet you decided to link to Bed, Bath and Beyond.

This is clearly the BEYOND part of shopping there.

Have you looked into Facebook selling? Find online groups there and put up a post saying that you want Genesis games. maybe something nice or affordable will come up?

Good eye on that Luke, and I actually do know that system very well as I've had an earlier iteration of it in handheld format. It's from AT Games using their "Firecore" emulator, aka the Gopher(no idea where that came from.) It's a mixed bag emulator. I'd say visually and control wise 90-95% of the games are correct, the other 5% have game breaking visuals problems or fail to work. Audio though, it has tone/pitch issues someone more intimately knowing of the real system would pick up on but if you're not deep into Genesis you won't likely notice. The critical problem with it is that the designers are both lazy and incompetent. That game taking console and latest handheld version(takes roms on a SD card which they advertise no less) uses the same emulator as it did 3-4 years ago and that emulator does not allow any games to save. This even counts somehow for a real cartridges so you can't play games like Phantasy Star 2-4, Mega Man Wily Wars, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles and others which is a deal breaker.
I've never looked into facebook selling really other than to notice I'm no good at finding reclusive groups that do good sales let alone specifically anything local enough to evade shipping charges.
