Famicom Disk System Power Adaptor

Post by grandta13 »

Will a Famicom Disk System work with an American Model 1 Sega Genesis power adapter? If not, what adapter should I get?

EDIT: I found this, which makes me think it can:
The Famicom Disk System AC-Adapter has the following specifications:
Input: 100VAC 50-60Hz
Output: 9VDC 400mA
Polarity: Centre Pin Negative
(+)------------(o------------(-)
Barrel Size: Outer Diameter 5.5mm; Inner Diameter 2.0mm*
*Most 9VDC universal AC-Adapters will work in its place, as it can accept the same tip as the Famicom and the MegaDrive, etc. The factory tip is slightly different (and red!) to prevent accidentally using it on the Famicom.

I doubt it's inner diameter is 2.0mm. Common size is 5.5mm OD and 2.1mm ID, I'm sure that's what the Genesis and Famicom plugs actual are. But that's besides the point.

The model 1 Genesis power adapter will probably work just fine. Although, 9v adapters are super common and 5.5mm x 2.1mm is the most common barrel size (and they're almost always center negative polarity) so finding the proper adapter for it should be easy.
