TR 2015 RPG run off

Since we had a tie, we will run a three day poll for the TR RPG. Every get ones vote, and there are only two choices.

I've not played Grandia, but assuming it has the same battle system as Grandia II, then we'll all be in for a big treat. Grandia II is easily my favorite RPG of that generation - and much of it is due to the amazing battle system which relies heavily on timed strategy (something you'd be familiar with from say FF7) but so refined that it adds a lot of action and excitement to the turn based battles.

Grandia is really, really good. One of the best 5th gen JRPGs. It's by Game Arts, who also did the Lunar games. Like Lunar it's cute and quirky with very memorable characters. The battle system is phenomenal. Fighting enemies is consistently fun, it never becomes a slog or grindy.

As for Wild Arms, I do enjoy it but it feels like more of a generic bandwagon PSX RPG. Grandia absolutely blows it away.

I own both, and will play whatever is chosen. But I'm pulling for Grandia.

They're both PS1 RPGs. I was hoping for a little bit more console flexibility here. Would have loved to play DW again.

Screw your console flexibility, Dragon Warrior doesn't have regional flexibility! It comes up again and again for Together Retro, but it's still an incredibly difficult game to acquire in Europe.

As a PS1 RPG, Grandia is playable on PS1, PS2, PS3 and digitally on PSP, PSVita and maybe PS4? (Not totally sure on that one). Sure they're all sony consoles, but that's still a lot of systems, and it's not stopped us playing Nintendo games before!


Voted Grandia because it looks great and I've not played it before. Wild Arms is OK, but nothing really special.

I put a few hours into Grandia a couple years ago, ended up getting distracted after getting stuck on a boss. But as much as I did play I must say I can see why many say it is one of the best PS1 (and Saturn's) best RPGs, I found the characters much more likable and the story much more engaging than FF7.

Ok then, I was just pointing out we shouldn't have had two picks for PS1-4/whatever. Didn't realize DW was so hard to find in Europe. I'll probably be skipping out that month.
