Heretic and Hexen both need to be played, regardless of the platform. I thought the strange RPG elements were a breath of fresh air during the end of the Sprite-based FPS games.

Quake & Heretic/Hexen are great ID classics. Good to go with either.

I remeber playing 4 player co-op Hexen on N64 with my friends when it initailly released.

That was just so awesome at the time; being able to play through the entire game with 4 people.

That was also why Duke Nukem 64 is my preferred platform for the series. Yeah it is tamed, but there is an unimaginable number of multi-player levels and you can have bots and 4-player co-op. That was the best!

I also remember us arguing about who was gonna have to have a duplicate character, since there were only 3 classes.

But I was the only one who preferred the Fighter, so I didn't have to worry about it.

What's cool about Hexen are the character classes. At the time for an FPS that was a really neat feature.
