NBA thread

Post by jvalentine98 »

Basketball's not big in Alabama, but I'm a long time Kobe Bryant fan. Let me say, though, that I wish he would retire. With the news today that Nash is done for likely his career...I mean he's 40 with a season ending injury, Kobe's shot attempts have jumped from 30 per game to 40!

Kobe's been an all time great, but he is hurting the Lakers. He's eating up half their salary cap and he can't even get on the court! And he thinks he deserves more money! I get that he is clutch, but he can't be clutch when they fail to even make the playoffs?

Lakers in for another long season. Maybe the Spurs can win just one more...maybe. Cleveland looks awesome now with Lebron and Love
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

Not a fan of rapists. Kobe rebuilt the Lakers only to destroy the entire team.

I was going to bitch about there being a thread for this, but apparently every thread is a season specific thread ( http://www.racketboy.com/forum/search.p ... mit=Search )

So carry on...

As a Cleveland fan I love the new look team... but it goes against what I have complained about in the past. I may have to eat a hypocritical hat or admit my emotions took over my logic after the decision.

I have been a Cavs fan since before MJ's "Shot", which I watch live on TV. I was so mad when MJ made that and it took me years to realized what I just witnessed was bigger for basketball than the loss was for Cleveland. I also had season tickets the two years before Lebron was drafted. I suffered through "Wrong Way Ricky Davis" and his attempt to get a triple double by shooting at the wrong basket.

There is a new vibe in the air here, not just because of the stars - but because Lebron changed. It was reported last week that on two instances Lebron scolded the team on how to be a team. The first was during a film session Lebron walked around with a trash can collecting food saying that "We don't eat during film sessions. It's not entertainment its work." The other one was when Coach Blatt entered the locker room, Lebron ordered the team to stop playing, listening to music, and sit straight up on the edge of the chair/bench when ever the coach enters and speaks.
This leadership role and Blatt's style of leaving only the center in the paint opens up the floor like nothing I have ever seen. Three stars, and the most underrated player on the Cavs - Waiters, all will thrive under this system. As a fan I am excited about this season... too bad I don't have cable to watch every game.

The case was dismissed, right? And the accuser, who had a history of mental health issues, told several versions of the story before ultimately refusing to testify in court, yes?

I don't know that we can ever know the full extent of what happened that night, but calling Kobe a "rapist" when there's no strong support for the claim is a pretty shitty thing to do.

I think it is fair to say he's an asshole, a vow-breaker, a womanizer, etc. - those are substantiated. But "rapist" is a bridge too far.

Really?

Huh. Well that makes this less funny. Always thought he settled out of court.

If I were a Cleveland fan I would be thrilled right now. When is the last time Cleveland won a title in any sport? The Indians, Browns? It's been at least 50+ years. Lebron's come back with tons of championship experience now, and he's a 2 time champ. They're likely going to win one with Lebron, Love and Kyrie. If not this year, within the next few. And Cleveland will party like something crazy.
