ps2 rpgs

my brother is giving me his ps2 so i was wondering if you guys can recommend me some rpgs for the system. also are all ps1 games playable on a ps2?

Yes they are (there may be some that don't play 100% perfect but I am not entirely sure)

Some games of interest

FFX
FFXII
Dragon Quest VIII
Valkyrie Profile II
Xenosaga series (except two sucks really bad)
Suikoden III and V
Persona III
Digital Devil Saga I&II
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
Disgaea
La Pucelle Tactics

As far as I know, yes.
I don't think there are any that have compatibility issues....

Well just yesterday I realized that my PS2 wont play the cdda music in Twisted Metal 2, even though my PS1 and the emulator known as pSX can do it just fine.

Tales of the Abyss, Legaia 2: Duel Saga, Dragon Quest 8, Final Fantasy X, Wild ARMs 3 and 4..

Yes, this system is LOADED with RPGs.

If I remember correctly, the Tomba games (or at least just Tomba 2) don't play on the PS2.

Tomba works fine, and beautifully. Never tried tomba 2.

thanks for the feedback guys! i know right off the bat i wanted to check out the final fantasy, kingdom hearts, god of war and ratchet & clank games. i wasn't sure where to start with ps2 rpgs. i heard there is shining force exa coming out, are there any other shining force games for ps2?
