So sue me for liking these but after rediscovering my love for mario tennis advance tour(seriously I powered through that a few years ago before losing the game), what with it being a camelot game with some of the quirks their games have I was wondering if there were any other games like them? I know there's the mario golf games too....it's honestly one of the strangest combinations but the only reason I've found to enjoy a sports game(I haven't even attempted my base wars copy yet but it's coming next chance I get...)
Here's What I've discovered so far:
MLB Power Pros 2008(wii, ps2, nds)
Casino Kid(nes)
Captain Tsubasa series - Tecmo World Cup Soccer( might be worth original fami version instead, robin field yuck)
Mario Golf (gbc, gba)
Mario Tennis(gbc, gba, n64?)
Hit the Ice(NES) - http://www.lostlevels.org/200405/200405-hti.shtml (download dead unless another can be found but interesting to look at)
World Court Tennis(turbo)
International Superstar soccer 2000(n64)
ChoroQ (ps2)
(which means now that i'm looking for these while I try to eliminate some vhs's in my room for more game storage space, especially these)

Hmm, I can only think of World Court Tennis on the Turbo and International Superstar Soccer 2000 on N64 which had a sort of RPGish mode.

MLB Power Pros and MLB Power Pros 2008 on the Wii are interesting to say the least . Both are only $3 at Gamestop currently as well. They have a weird but rather amusing story mode.

If racing counts as a sport then definitely check out Final Lap Twin on the TG16.
Re: What are the best sport rpgs?
Please define "Sports RPG". Like, "Your player/equipment gets better over time if you win" or some such?
If that is the case:
Super Hang-On
Virtua Tennis
Blitz The League
Test Drive Le Mans

Level-5 has been making an Inazuma Eleven sports RPG series for quite a while now:

A lot of the entries are available in English.
I wish we had got this in English...

Dang, beat me to it, I thought I'd be the first to say that one.

Without question, the best game of the mind you mention is either Blood Bowl or one of its successors but it's not what you are looking for and I'm told the PC ports have terrible artificial intelligence.
Looking for a cool game? Find it in my blog!

Skip Base Wars and play Mario golf on the Gameboy Color. Base Wars (NES) is not that great, but Mario Golf (GBC) is one of my very favorite RPGs and one of my favorite sports games.
