PC Engine GT / Turbo Express button trouble

I bought a PCE-GT recently and found that the unit works 100% accept for the I an II buttons. i took a look inside and could see that the capacitor on the control board had leaked so i replaced it but still have had no luck. does any one have any ideas as to what else i could try to do to get this unit back up and running?

Have you checked for any damage on the controller board ribbon cable?

yea the ribbon is fine, it looks like the black traces are where the issue is some parts seem to have been eaten away by the leaking capacitor. any ideas on how to repair them? I was able to repair the I button but the one button has an issue going to the turbo section.

I would say double-check your soldering. Also, make sure you used the right caps.
Also, electrical contact cleaner can work wonders.

Can you take pictures of both sides of the board? We might be able to determine what has been damaged by the leaking capacitor. A fresh set of eyes never hurts.

this is a picture i had on hand from before i started working on it. i think at this point I'm trying to restore continuity on the long black trace from the one (I) button. also i realize in the picture that the trace has fallen off connecting the button to that trace path but that part has been repaired already (i hope anyway). what is the best way to go about fixing those kinds of traces anyway seems there is no copper underneath them to expose?

hey guys just wanted to let you all know that after laying down some new traces with some copper strands i was able to fix the issue but I'm still wondering if there is a better way. perhaps conductive paint or something? I've never used that before though.

I tried using conductive paint on a GM keypad, and it didn't last long. But those GM keypads are really shitty, so I don't know if it was a good test.

They make products specifically for this use, which might be better. Here's two I found on Amazon...

I haven't tried either yet, but I've been wanting to.

Note that those are for the rubber buttons, not for these "black traces". But I can't see how that would matter.

yea i saw that stuff but wasn't really sure about it as i had heard mixed results. the other issue is I'm in japan and couldnt find it on the amazon japan site (but i also didnt really look that hard) but i think i might buy some of that stuff just to have on hand for some other projects.
