Modern PC game Racketboy-styled guides?

So I just invested into a 1k gaming PC... it's basically my first go at stepping into modern times for video games. I basically drew the line at the PS2/GameCube/Xbox era for the most part.
For those curious on why, the ugly up-scaling filtering and framerate of 'below 720p' content on the consoles is mainly what turned me off to this and the last generation. Plus I was getting jaded of seeing mainly FPS games taking the spotlight.

I'm trying to make a list of "must have games to check out of the last 10 years", and I'm pretty overwhelmed. This includes indies as well as the latest AAA games.

Here are some modern games I know of off the top of my head that I'm looking forward to checking out... Half-Life series, Portal series, Rayman Origins/Legends, Sonic Generations, BioShock series, Batman Arkham Asylum, Wasteland 2, GTA series. I know I'm missing about ten thousand others.

Anything like "games that defined the PC 2010-2014" etc. and "hidden gems"? You know, the usual Racketboy staples? I think it would really help. Especially if it's sorted by genre; would help make it a lot less random in terms of researching and narrowing things down (the top lists on IGN and such just seem completely random to me).

I thought the same thing, until I tried it. There is a very good chance that it will replace the monitor in my racing cab builds now.
