For some reason my model 1 Sega CD won't read any burned games I just got. They play fine on my model 2 Sega CD but not the model 1. Any suggestions?
And does anyone have mutant league hockey they want to sell? Did buy the game and put it in and someone switched it to madden 93!!!
If anyone has any advice let me know

I would try cleaning the laser lens on the Model 1.mas wrote:For some reason my model 1 Sega CD won't read any burned games I just got. They play fine on my model 2 Sega CD but not the model 1. Any suggestions?

If they work on the Model 2, then their were definitely burnt correctly.
I know I am no help here, but the Model 1 might sound like it has a weaker laser and can't read burnt games. Doesn't sound like there is much you can do other than making sure the CD and lens are clean of any debris and smudges.
If you used eBay or something, I would open a case asap. If i was someone else (like on here), talk it out asap. And does anyone have mutant league hockey they want to sell? Did buy the game and put it in and someone switched it to madden 93!!!
btw, let me know how you like the Sega CD, I was thinking about buying one as the Genesis has been drying up on me lately.

You might have to try using a different brand CD-R and adjust your write speed. Certain drives don't like certain discs, and that be reading AND writing.
Cleaning the lens is never a bad idea.

Re: Sega model 1 not playing burned games
Next time you buy those back ups from the person, ask them to try the lowest write speed possible. My drive can't go lower any lower than 16x on Verbatim CD-Rs, but it works awesome. I tried to cheat one time and do 48x (lol), and my Dreamcast would just keep loading the DC logo.

Re: Sega model 1 not playing burned games
Guys,
I got them from joehero here on racketboy and except for no music on sonic CD and nothing on mickey mania he did a fantastic job on the games.
They are I think Sony CDR's. Can't tell you right now as im at work right now.
The only thing that I can do is buy a actual Sega CD game and hope it works. If so then I might just put it on display or maybe just sell it here for someone who has Sega CD games. Plays music CDs no problem.
As far as mutant league hockey goes, got the game cheap so whatever.

Re: Sega model 1 not playing burned games
Considering either Sega CD a bit pricey, why wear it out faster pushing the laser to read CDRs? Perhaps play the burns thru emulation and use just pressed discs on the readers?mas wrote:For some reason my model 1 Sega CD won't read any burned games I just got.
