It's Autumn - Favorite time of year?

Post by jvalentine98 »

Fiance is out of state to visit family, and to celebrate the occasion (not that I don't love her, but a man needs his "man" time) I took a few vacation days, starting now. It just so happens that as of the 22nd, it's now Autumn, or Fall. This is my favorite season of the year. If you live in the deep south, you probably understand why. Not too hot, not too cold, and the numerous horror films, the haunted houses and the beautiful leaves are just my taste.

I picked up a half case of Sam Adam's Octoberfest and a sixer of New Belgium Tour De Fall to drink on my days off from work. I really believe Sam Adam's Octoberfest to be my favorite beer.

Guess it's time to take in some old school horror movies (no CGI here, Tom Savini style real make up effects for me). Maybe time for Pumpkinhead, since I just got the Blu Ray in the mail.

ETA: If you live in the south, you will understand what a relief it is to walk outside and move around (like walk to the mailbox) and not sweat. The air isn't so thick you can cut it with a knife...you can actually enjoy sitting on the porch, or whatever. That's a real struggle, constantly wiping your forehead.

I guess Spring comes in a distant second. Summer and Winter are too extreme one way or the other to even be an option

Can't agree with you more. I'm ecstatic I can walk outside and not have to change clothes when I walk back in . My favorite though is a little later in the year when the air is a little bit "crisper". I wake up early and love it when it is around 45-50 in the mornings.

I actually enjoy Winter in the South, though Fall is definitely my favorite time of year.

I just watched Pumpkinhead last week, what a great, awful movie.

It used to not be that bad in the winter, but I swear the older I get the colder it gets. Same goes for summer, every year gets more unbearable. Maybe I just notice it more, though. Alabama in particular has extreme weather, it can be 100 in July with thick humidity, and 20 in January.

Yeah, but we've had some mild winters in Alabama in the last few years too. I remember in January of 2007 walking around with it in the upper 70s. There were flowers blooming, it was a surreal experience.

I Eastern NC you have Summer, Blistering Summer, and sometimes what these people consider Fall.

So "Winter Months" would be by leaps and bounds my favorite season.

95-100F summer in the south east here plus insane 70-95% humidity = no fun in the sun. Autumn is always a welcome harbinger. While fall is great, winter is my favorite because my ideal temperature range is between 45-65F.

Well there is one good thing about winter...no lawn to keep up, cause it's dead. I have a 5 acre yard, that's a lot of grass and a lot of weedeating/trimming.

Air conditioning is big business down here. There's a AC shop on every corner. My small town has several considering the tiny population. Business is always good, cause if one goes out, you can bet no matter what they will find a way to buy a new one, and fast.

I almost feel like the government should provide air to people in this part of the country. It's pretty much a necessity.
