Saturn Backup Cart

Post by PharmaceuticalCowboy »

Hey guys, I was playing around with my Backup cart when it died on me. Granted I haven't played with it for a good long time it seemed to boot up fine the first time then weakened out on me, leading me to believe that it is some kind of battery inside. I was wondering what kind of battery (if any) is inside the cart and what I would have to do to replace it. I'm just glad my Nights saves are on the Saturn's internal memory.

Most people in this forum say that it charges itself after you use it on your saturn, meaning it will erase your saves if you don't use it in a while

So I can just leave it in there and leave the console on for a bit and see if it will save?

That's what everyone says around here, honestly I only used my cart like once or twice since I got it almost a year ago

Personally, I don't believe there is a rechargeable battery in any Saturn cart.

Which memory cart do you have? I have an InterAct Memory Card Plus and it doesn't have a battery at all. It's maintained some of my saves for a decade and multiple years of not being plugged in at all.

Guess you are right, it seems there's nothing battery-ish in there

Well I let my Saturn run and it doesn't seem to work still, but I've completely forgotten how to access the memory without booting up a game... I think you have to hold the reset button or something... I feel silly.

So anyone remember how to manage the files in the Saturn's memory? I can't seem to search the right terms to get me the answer.

If the saturn bios doesn't show it, then you need a game that supports it.

I'm not sure if this is what you're trying to do, but I know you can see the files on your Saturn (and any backup cart) by going to the main menu (the one with the 9 circular buttons and the spaceship screensaver), selecting the advanced controls (bottom right button), and then the memory (top centre one).

I haven't accessed it in a while, so I might be wrong with the directions though.
