White Gamecube controllers for Wii

Post by GagaMan »

I still use my Gamecube controller quite a lot (be it for GC games, VC or games like NiGHTS 2 which work better with it) and I was wondering if anyone could recommened a good Gamecube controller that would blend in with the Wii, because a purple controller plugged into it looks odd. The chances of me getting a wavebird for a reasonable price are pretty slim, so a wired one would be fine.

There seems to be a lot of buy it now white Gamecube controllers on Ebay that look identical to the official Nintendo ones, can I trust these to be just as durable? I've also seen a picture of one that looks exactly the same except all the buttons are white too on an article on UK:Resistance that I wouldn't mind finding if it works well. The closer to the real thing the better, I don't like any of those oddly shaped ones...

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5608 If you MUST have white. Prolly the same thing as ebay BUT most of the ones on ebay are "stock pics" you might even get a purple one that looks nothing like the picture.

Some words of advice.. Stick to official controllers. While some 3rd party controllers are ok most far from it

I was wondering if any of these white controllers are any good, or if anyone knows on an online round up?

I wonder why Nintendo dont make official ones with demand so high. Same goes for the GC memory cards - official ones are pretty hard to find at the minute.

If you're REALLY desperate, save some cash. Buy a purple one, unscrew it and take it apart, get some primer, and white spray paint, prime the plastic for the spray and give it 2 coats of white spray. Jobs a good 'un.

or you could do a shell swap, buy one of those 3rd party white controllers and swap the guts with an official controller. there is no guarantee for a perfect fit, you might have to mod it a little to get it right.

Yeah, third party Gamecube controllers never seem to feel right (although I've never had one of these ones that is an identical shape top the official ones), but I don't think I'm desperate enough to spend the time spraying them white. I can live with Purple ones if there's not official white ones. I would like to get some Wavebirds (grey is close enough) but the chance of me finding one for a good price is slim, they're so stupidly expensive for my liking.

I saw 2 today at my local used game shop, $24 each, I happily picked up the one that wasn't beat up.

I got a Wavebird from Gamestop for $18 yesterday. The bag was labeled "Gamecube Wireless Any" so I guess that's the price for any wireless GC controller they would sell. And I believe the prices on the GC games all fell by a few dollars over the past 10 days or so.
Let my legs shake me to sleep, and don't wake me when I sweat on my sheets.
