Pure speculation here: Namco probably gets a larger cut of the arcade side plus short exclusivity while Nintendo reaps the profits from Wii U sales at a later date.

Also wouldn't this make nintendo's first arcade venture in forever(unless I've missed something...which is likely)?

I honestly think it looks really cool (even though they'll never put in my favorite pokemon, but never mind that) and I would totally buy it.
