"P.T." PS4 Survival Horror Demo

Post by Omerta »

I haven't seen anyone mention it here, so I found out about this while I was cruising the web.

Attention survival horror junkies: If you honestly never heard of it and own a PS4, do yourself a favor and leave YouTube and search engines alone until you've downloaded and played this demo called "P.T.".

I do not own one yet and watched a video. I wish I would have just played it myself before reading up on it.

There's some pretty big names associated with this project so there are going to be some lofty expectations.

I was going to play this when I first heard of it but then I found out it's PS4-only. Darn. :(
I don't really plan on watching a video of it in case it spoils anything of the next Silent Hill; hopefully it too isn't PS4 exclusive.

I've read that the demo is pretty creepy though.

We did actually have some discussion in the Random Gaming Thoughts thread and a thread pop up in the Other Genres subforum: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=47175

Hey, I'm looking forward to it. If it comes out as exclusive, I may have to pick up a PS4.

saw the video....during the day. So no creep factor for me.

Although it would be a different story at night.

I have a friend thats going nuts for this shit.

Hes an uber fan of Metal Gear Solid and Hes and even Bigger fan of Silent Hill.

Having both come together is giving him big smiles.

Lets hope the expectations meet the demand.

Patiently waiting for it on Xbox One. Could be a classic if done right.

At the same time I'm not as thrilled about the people involved as some might be. If given the choice I'd honestly not want Kojima involved. I can just picture 25 minute long cut scenes. I like Norman Reedus but real actors in games is something I'm very leery of. It's a fabulous idea in theory but it takes me out of the game's world, especially a game like Silent Hill.

Overall I'm glad they got these people involved I just have a lot of caveats.

Kojima does that stuff because it's Metal Gear. I don't think he'll mess this up. Some of the original staff like the art director from 1-4, have even specifically said they might be back on board if he ever got to do one, so I hope they come back.

Isn't Konami doing this to revitalize a stale series?

Silent hill has been doing okay, but none of the last few games have been truly memorable.

I've heard Metal gear solid is more popular in the US than in japan.

So to put kojima into this is to bring a new fanbase to one of its most popular series.

And to put a popular actor in it as well shows us that Konami is willing to do more than normal to get people to buy their new game.

I'm sure fans of the walking dead who dont play much videogames will take a leap and buy that ps4 to play this game.

pretty bold move by them to attempt this.

It is an interesting clash.

I think Kojima aside, I'm just really happy to see it back more in Japanese hands again. I've only seen bits of Homecoming and Downpour, watched Shattered Memories, and am playing Origins now... but even with little exposure I can just tell they lack a little something the original 4 Japanese developed games had. Leave it to the Japanese to deliver horror!
