Weird issue with my DS Lite

Post by ninjainspandex »

So I just got a DS lite and I just now noticed something wonky. At first I thought it was an issue with the touch screen and was going to complain to the seller but now I think it might be the AC adapter. It looked original but I think it is a cheap chinese knockoff. Well the issue is the touch screen gets real jittery and unresponsive when the system is charging, but works flawlessly when not hooked up to the AC adapter. Here are some picks of the issue

No charger

With charger, notice how the line I drew looks like Morris code?

Here is the AC adapter it has the oval where the Nintendo logo should be but it is blank, so I'm guessing its a cheap Knockoff one. Anyone have an original AC adapter that will comfirm if this issue still happens with the original?

I don't currently have a DS Lite, but I don't ever remember having any issues w/the touch screen while it was charging.

Also, I'm gonna be that guy: It's Morse code.
Sorry

yeah. its probably, most likely the plug.

Can you borrow an official one from someone to see if it does the same?

Or hit up the usual places. Fleamarkets and yardsales and thrift stores?

Or get an official genreic from gamestop? Thats if they still have some.

Way back in the day I had a similar experience with a classic game boy.

I bought a cheap knockoff ac plug at a fleamarket. When it was plugged in I would hear a light buzzing sound from the speaker. It would be mixed in with the normal sounds. When it was running on batteries, there was no sound other than the normal gameboy music.

From my best guess, this was either feedback from the electricity going through the gameboy or RF interference from the cheap plug.

Either way I kept using it, untill I was able to buy my own steady supply of batteries.

Anywhoo. Go find an original plug.
