Forgotten UG stash of discs: found!

Post by aaron »

so i dug out two spindles of CD-Rs that i have had in my posession for YEARS. i feel like i've tried to give them away numerous times, figuring i'd never go through them and i didn't really need them. back when Underground-Gamer changed their rules about "safe" PC titles, they put a ton of newly "unsafe" PC games up for freeleech. i grabbed as much as i could on a DSL connection and burnt them all to discs. been installing and playing some of them and i'm having a pretty good time. adding them to steam and getting them working with my 360 controller has been a fun little challenge, too.

Neato!

I recently hooked up an old external HDD that had a folder named "UG" on it filled with goodies. Any idea if UG is ever coming back?

If I had known it were these games from your thread, I would've taken them! I thought you were offering old C&C, Mechwarrior, Quake mod, and obscure abandonware games, originally. Let me you know if you want to part with some of these!

Edit: there are those I've mentioned, but a lot of better games, too

That warhammer game... it is good?

During my pirate days (yeah they are "over" ) i manage to download a buch of games and burn them in discs. It is a bit curious to see the content of those discs. Though mine are just a couple years old.

Steam sales have killed my interested in ill-gotten gains in the form of PC game titles. I have so many damn games I haven't even started that I legitimately have access to that I don't have any room in my PC gaming life for anything extra.

yeah, same here. i can't even really be bothered to download roms anymore. it's not really a "moral duty" thing for me, i just enjoy the convenience and i'm willing to pay for it.

Convenience is key. If media companies try to kill "piracy" first and THEN try to offer services, they will just screw it up because there's no incentive to get it right. They need to use convenient services as the tool to combat piracy, instead of stupid lawsuits. Steam has probably done more damage to PC game piracy than any lawsuits.

As a fan of FPS, no, it's actually really bland and stiff-feeling. It could have been amazing, considering the property, but the whole thing just feels like it fell on its face.
