So here is my problem. A few days ago I brought a copy of Tales of Destiny for the Playstation 1. It is the japanese version of the game (The re-release copy). So I go home to play the game.
Now, I only have a US PS1 but I have the PS-X-Change 2 that I use to play import games. The first system I use the game on is the PSone. The system loads up, I do the swap disk, Tales of Destiny JP loads up and everything works fine with the game. However, about an hour into the game the game puts you onto the world map for the first time and when it does; the game freezes. So I want to make sure it is not a problem with the system so I do the same thing again, I swap the disk, load the file up and the game freezes again.
So next thing I do is switch systems. I plug in my PS1 scph-5000 model, do the swap trick and it freezes at the world map again. At this point I'm thinking the game is damaged. So I go and find another copy of the game online and find out a local game store is selling a dirt cheap, original release copy. I go to the store, with my PSone (since it has the LCD Screen) and try the copy at the store. Totally different game at this point, the game still freezes at the same point. The owner of the store goes and cleans it, comes back and it still freezes. At this point he said the memory card might be causing it so I start all over again with a new memory card, no other save files on the card and have and new save file. Same problem.
At this point I am unsure of what is going on. I know it couldn't be the game since I have two different games plus I also know the memory card couldn't be different. Also, the first memory card I was using was a Pocketstation. Could it be that the game doesn't like being played on a US system or is something faulty with the PS-X-Change 2 that I haven't noticed. Also, this was the first Import game I have so it was the first time I could use the PS-X-Change 2 I brought a while ago. So yeah, I'm at a lost of words here so I hope someone can help me out with the problem here.
