Hey, I've recently increased my cartridge and console collection and there's a fair amount of them that need a good cleaning. I've owned a few of those cart and contact cleaning kits. IMO they all worked well.
I know there's some tricks to use - erasers, fine sandpaper, cardboard, isopropyl alcohol, etc. but I would prefer to use a commercial product if I can find one on Ebay, Amazon, or elsewhere - I don't want cotton fibers, cardboard bits, eraser shavings etc lodged or clinging to the contacts.
If you've used one or more of these, could you list the brand name and some comments on their effectiveness?
I've owned and used others, but that was a long time ago.
The worn-out ones I have in my cupboard currently are:
Performance/JoyPlus Game Boy cleaning kit
This has a cart-shaped cleaning tool with a handle on it for the console. It has a durable woven cloth in place of the cart contacts. It includes a cart cleaner as well - a plastic wand with a few rigid replaceable synthetic chamois/felt-like material cleaning swabs. There's also a bottle of isopropyl alcohol included for the cleaning tools.
Naki Eliminator for Gameboy:
This one came with a sponge-like wand for the cartridge and a really good green plastic abrasive material in the cleaning cart. It also included a bottle of what I think was xylene (dried out now).
Commercial cart and contact cleaning tools
