Sotn Saturn castle map?

Post by chupon »

Need a quick answer. Maybe I'm an idiot but how do I call up the castle map in SOTN for the Saturn?

I can't recall - is there an item I need to find? Am I being a moron?

Also - I've taken down the English ps1 version 3 times...

yeah unfortunately that is one of the disadvantages of the Saturn version, I wish you could just instantly bring up the transparent map like in the PS1 version, instead of having to opening the menu which takes a couple seconds to load.

Well after four hours of playing I have to say I prefer the Saturn Version of this game hands down.

Very smooth playing. Sound effects and music seem better to me.

Additional characters available from the start.

Extra baddies, bosses, levels, music, items, etc. Amazing. This is the version to play.

Only downside is the map access from menu screen and language barrier for item names. No big deal though.

It actually doesn't run as good as it does on the PS1.

That's because it was a rush job by one of Konami's lesser teams. There was nothing in that game the Saturn couldn't do better than the PS1.

That said, despite the occasional hitches and missing special effects in some areas, the dive kick has been improved so that you are less likely to take damage from the enemy you are kicking, and the dash relic is invaluable.

I've read that too. However, I've also read that it's because of the difference between the PS1 and the Saturn hardware. The PS1 was built for 3D, while the Saturn was a 2D powerhouse. You might think, well, SotN is a 2D game so it should run better on the Saturn. Well, because the PS1 was better at 3D than 2D, they designed the game in such a way to take advantage of the PS1 hardware. And that's partly why the Saturn port doesn't run as well.

Yes, the ability to dash is amazing. Luckily, unlike some games, I never really missed not being able to dash in the PS1 version. It was awesome to have it in the Saturn version, but I never felt like it was needed.

Eh, it's a give and take. I can see preferring the Saturn version but it's far from being definitive. I've played both and at the end of the day I think I prefer the PS1 version.

You are both wrong the psp version is best, has the best of both worlds. The creator of SOTN himself said the PSP version is the definitive version. I just wish they would release Dracula X chronicles on the television for the PS4
