Different 32X problem
My 32x plays 32x games fine, and the genesis plays genesis games correctly, but when I put a genesis game into the 32X, the images is corrupted (though the game is often still playable for a short time). Any advice?

Re: Different 32X problem
Speaking out of my butt here, but maybe the Genesis carts and the 32X carts use different pins and the ones for the Genesis might be dirty?

Nope, the cart slot is one and the same for both types of carts.
It could just be a coincidence. Try cleaning everything: The Genesis cart slot, the 32X cart slot, the 32X cartridge, and each game cart that you use.

Re: Different 32X problem
Well there are some pins that aren't used on Gen carts, it's possible that the 32X does for extra data or a flag for indicate 32X carts.Ziggy587 wrote:Nope, the cart slot is one and the same for both types of carts.

Re: Different 32X problem
I just meant that there's only one cart slot. But yeah, the 32X could possibly use pin(s) that a Genesis cart doesn't. However, that wouldn't cause Genesis carts not to boot if they DON'T use those pins. Right?

Hobie got what I was going for. I just think there might be PINs that aren't used by the 32X that are by the Genesis carts that could be the problem.Ziggy587 wrote:I just meant that there's only one cart slot. I don't think that there are though.Stark wrote:Hobie got what I was going for. I just think there might be PINs that aren't used by the 32X that are by the Genesis carts that could be the problem.
Re: Different 32X problem
I think the earlier mentioned "thoroughly clean everything" approach would be a good place to start. Supposedly the 32X is just a pass-through device when it comes to Genesis games, so I think all signs point to something on the 32X having a problem.Ziggy587 wrote:I don't think that there are though.Stark wrote:Hobie got what I was going for. Re: Different 32X problem
Just to add a further .02, Virtua Racing is fully incompatible with the 32x, but I think (from some quick googling) that it's due to an enhancement chip being shoehorned on, DSP-style, for that game and that game only in the entire Genesis library.Stark wrote:I think the earlier mentioned "thoroughly clean everything" approach would be a good place to start. So y'know... if that's the game you're trying to play... might be the issue
