Chip Issues

Post by Cobracf2 »

I know some people have been successful at getting the mod to work. As I was putting the chip into the Where the ribbon Cable goes the the ribbon cable Holder split in 2 and cracked. Im not Blaming Racketboy by any means its my own damn fault for bvuying the chip. If you get this Chip goodluck you chance wrecking your Saturn. As my Saturn no longer works.

Dude, you had to file down the edges of the chip so it would fit. You should have been more careful. When it didn't fit, you should have read the instructions around this place, instead of smashing it down inside. Your fault. I blame you.

Plus, if your system is very old and has been used a lot, the repetetive heat expansions from powering on and off throughout the years could have weakened the plastic. Other environmental aspects can have an effect on the durability of it. You should see my NES. It's shell crumbles off into dust at the slightest touch.

I read the instructions and filed down the chip. I guess that wasnt enough now was it. NO this is what I did I guessed where the chip was supposed to go then tried to stick in a slot that looked to be the right size and viola the slot cracked. Dude I had printed instuctions in front of me as I did it.

So you had teh same saturn as teh instructions? cuz it sounds like to me that you didnt have the same saturn. And its more than likely your fault for pressing too hard.

Hey, chill. You can't blame the modchip for this. A lot - A LOT - of people modded their Saturns with RB's chips without any problems whatsoever. I'm one of them. You just need to calm down and try to understand what hapenned. It was an exception, not a rule, so chances are the chip is not to blame. Read what Mozgus wrote, it makes a lot of sense.

I know what the problem was. The plastic on the cable plug is probably old and brittle. It really didnt take much of push for it to crack. Look guys im not blaming anyone. I do blame myself. should have just never messed with it. I just picked up another saturn at a local used store for 30.00 bucks and it works fine. I wont be putting that modchip in due to the fact that its a version 1 saturn that I just bought. I'll just leave it at that. This however is not good. Im just telling people if you open up the saturn to install this modchip and break the thing its your own fault for doing so. I guess thats my point.

Sorry to heard about your problems.
I've taken the liberty of changing the subject line since its a little overblown.

So was your original Saturn a Model 1?
Did you damage this chip itself at all?
