PS3 Blank Screen - Random and only Temporary

So I have been playing my PS3 again. On Tuesday I started to play Final Fantasy X HD and the screen would go blank and my TV would show the input selection indicating no signal. After some time it would come back and the game continued. It happened a couple times that night. It happened again every time I played my PS3. I though it was the game since I just beat Arkham Origins in early June with no issues, but tonight while playing Destiny Beta it happened three times. So it is not a single game issue.

Here is how my PS3 (160gb Slim) is hooked up:
PS3 --HDMI--> Switch Box --HDMI--> Home Theather Reciever --HDMI--> TV

The reason I use the switch box is that my TV only has 1 HDMI port and the Receiver has 2. The Blu-Ray player gets one and then my PS3 and WiiU share the other port.

The last couple of times it went black, I manually cycled through the HDMI Switch Box and the picture came back sooner than if I waited it out. I think it may be the switch box, but I have been playing my WiiU, which is the only other thing plugged into that switch box, all Summer and have never had it drop it's signal. Since the WiiU uses the same box I am at a loss.

So, I am at a loss... do I try to replace the switch box or is my PS3 dying?

Well, hook it directly and see if it goes away. If so, add the receiver or switch only into the mix and narrow it down. If it still happens directly, use a different HDMI cable to test that angle.

I did switch HDMI cables from the box to the PS3, so the cable to the switch box is not the issue. I am guessing the cable from the box to the TV isn't the issue since the error never occurs with the WiiU.

I will try hooking it directly to the TV, but now I am wondering if it has to do with the June 24th system update that I did on Tuesday. The update installed fine, but since then I have had the problems and before that I didn't have any.

I'm not FPS guy, nor am I that good at it, but I loved it. I miss the idea of a strong cohesive story but there is something about teaming up with others that is awesome... when my screen was not going black (that's why I kept falling behind).

I played a bit solo this morning, the part where you find a warp drive, and didnt have a problem in the 20 minutes I played. So having the PS3 directly wired into the receiver worked for 20 min. Not enough to be a concrete test, but it gives me hope.

So I tried different cables, no dice. My TV is only 720, but the PS3 "automatically" detects 1080 and set it there. I have never had a problem with that, but manually set to 720 and that didn't help either. Now the PS3 is directly connected to the receiver so hopefully we can determine it was the switch box.

The difference between what I have and what others posted are:
1. I still have sound during gameplay (the sound went out on a FFX cutscene once, but every other time there was still sound)
2. This PS3 is 3 years old and just started. Many in your other thread said it was an issue from the beginning (I think I'm reading it right).

So I'm still hoping that it was the switch box, if not... sigh.

I read elsewhere that clearing the cache will help. Has anyone tired that with the PS3 slim?

Far as I know it's an HDCP handshaking issue. I (eventually) found a working download link for an updated firmware for my TV that greatly alleviated it for me.

What I actually found was that the PS3 wasn't as bad as some. I tried a stand-alone Blu-ray player, and that blinked out too, but would also lose audio until playback was stopped/restarted.
