need help trying to find an old toy.

Guys,
O.k so my buddy and I were talking about old toys. My buddy alex had this toy that had numbers on it and would turn into a large robot like the constructions turning into devastator from transformers or voltron.
All I remember is that it was red and white and you put these either small humans or other robots into the arms and legs and it was open so you can just slide them in. It turned into a big robot. I also remember that they legs and arms had numbers like voltron. Its wasn't transformers or go bots or voltron. It was another toy maybe an japan toy like a magna but I cant find it. It was also 1987 when I first saw this at the house so it was around those years.
Can or does anyone know what the hell im talking about? Let me know

I know you said it wasn't Voltron but Vehicle Voltron (aka Dairugger XV) maybe?



There are so many combining mecha anime, Super Sentai and unrelated toylines from the 80's it's hard to know where to start.

Smaller Go-Bots went into it like you described. You could fit other action figures in there too if you wanted like GI Joes.
