Watched it last night. It was hysterical! Honestly they should do a 15 min short every week and throw it on Netflix as an exclusive. Good way to get income.

You can't write good comedy in a weekly basis.casterofdreams wrote:Watched it last night. It was hysterical! Honestly they should do a 15 min short every week and throw it on Netflix as an exclusive. Good way to get income.
But yeah this is really funny. I love the soldier

I saw this a year and a half ago when I won a trip to Valve at the charity auction. They hadn't ironed out several technical issues and there was an extra scene that hurt the pacing (which was dropped in the final product). I'm glad to see it's finally out.
My favorite moment is still the exchange:
"You're ready."
"Yeah?"
"No, everything you said was insane. But we're out of time."

Mine was "I have a final wish" "Is it the bucket?"MrPopo wrote: My favorite moment is still the exchange:

Love the soldier, but the spy was also ace

Re: New Team Fortress 2 Video! - Expiration Date
Honestly I wasn't much of a fan of how the soldier was portrayed. Among all the nine mercenaries he's for sure the least intelligent, and that is made obvious in his original Meet the Soldier video, but Expiration Date took it to the next level. He seriously acts mentally handicapped, and it feels a bit too out there for me.
Either way, his scene and the video as a whole were hilarious. And if I could ask for anything to be changed it actually wouldn't be Soldier. I would wish that the other mercs had gotten more lines. The Heavy only ever says "Do it now Doctor" during that fight, which I think is just a line taken right from the game. Pyro never got any mumbles in, and the Sniper and Demo barely talked either.

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

I agree; while I loved the short, and I will never not laugh at the line "I have done nothing but teleport bread for the past three days.", Soldier did seem out of character. He is supposed to be insane, but in a capable and angry kind of way. In the game, it is clear that his delusions are very specific, and now it just feels like he's mad for madness' sake.MrEco wrote:Honestly I wasn't much of a fan of how the soldier was portrayed. I don't think the Soldier was out of character. He has always had those obsessive tendences and it's not like talking to disembodied heads was some kind of
The reason the other mercenaries don't have lines is a problem with the voice actors. As far as I know, a couple aren't available, another is retired and the Soldier's has throat cancer which is why his voice changes when he yells, another person took over for that line.

You knew about this that long ago? Did you have to sign a NDA?MrPopo wrote:You have no idea.ZeroAX wrote:You can't write good comedy in a weekly basis.casterofdreams wrote:Watched it last night.
