What should I get for my PS1?

Post by Curlypaul »

ok, I've got 2 PS1 and apart from the Final Fantasy games that I bought them for, and the best version of Resident Evil, what else is still worth playing?

I've never been filled with any kind of enuthiasm for sony consoles and in 8 years I've barely played them. I had a bout on Gran Turismo a few months ago and lately I find myself staring at the PS1 games after some inspiration. I seem to remember Tekken was pretty good and Syphon Filter was too, how have they held up?

I really at a lose as to what to do with these machines.

Heart of Darkness
Medievil I and II
Parasite Eve I and II
Overblood
Driver I and II
Silent Hill, all of them
Syphon Filter, all of them

All great games (as you can tell, I prefer action/adventure games).

Dragon Warrior 7 is great.

Scooter's choices are all damn good ones, too. Driver and Driver 2 are some of the first ones I'd get off his list.
Atari 2600 (AV mod), NES, SNES (region switch for PAL), Virtual Boy, Gamecube, Wii (D2CKey), PSX (Stealth V), PS2 (independence exploit w/ 160 GB HDD), Goldstar 3DO, Philips CD-i, Dreamcast, Saturn (racketboy's chip), Sega Genesis 2 + CD2 + 32X + Power Base Converter, Game Gear.

Uhh...I hated Dragon Warrior 7. I can't believe it was the best selling game in Japan. The characters literally glide across the ground....it looks odd.

But anyway....if you like RPG's this is your system:
Chrono Cross is really great and cheap
Valkyrie Profile is amazing, but pricy
Star Ocean
Breath of Fire III & IV (i think i like 3 a bit better)
Saga Frontier (i didn't like 2 but some people did)
Threads of Fate
Legend of Mana
Vagrant Story
Lunar Silver Star Story and Eternal blue (sega cd remakes)
Grandia
Brigandine
Tactics Ogre
Persona 1 & 2

Fighters:
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure
Rival Schools

Shmups:
Thunder Force V
Einhander
RayStorm
RayCrisis
G Darius
Strikers 1945
Raiden Project
R-Type Delta

Lots of great stuff, plus the stuff on racket's list are good too.
Definately worth keeping one of the units!

Parasite eve! that was on my want list when I first got the machine, thanks for jogging my memory about this and some of the other great games listed here.

Silent Hill is another set of games that I would be pretty interested in also.

Thanks for all the pointers guys
