Good xp compatible tycoon/simulation type games?

Post by darsparx »

I can't think of many to get for my xp computer. I really want to if the thing works besides the ones i know of and need to get again(for various errors from last time trying them and missing discs). I just feel the sudden urge to play more games like roller coaster tycoon or civilization(I have 2) since now I'm getting really interested to see if those games were as good as I recall once i get a keyboard again...

Most of the entries in this genre are pretty awful and pale in comparison to economic boardgames but it's my favourite genre and there are a few that I can really recommend:

A-Train 9: A difficult, but ultimately rewarding simulator that allows you to build extremely complex transport systems with schedules and the city that surrounds them.

Railroad Tycoon 3: Previous entries had pretty awful snowball economics that rewarded spamming trains but this one has an amazing supply/demand system that rewards focused expansion and that stalls if you focus on just one thing.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 1/2: You can use the maps from the original game and its expansion on the sequel and they are all really good and quite challenging. Try them if you want more RCT.

Yeah but rc1 was really what got me into the genre(I will honestly admit I will never play some of the more recent games that include a ton of social features like all the Facebook ones, they don't have the same fun value as say rc1 especially vanilla rc1). I'm definitely going to check those out though when I get a chance since i want to make use of that computer since it works now apparently(just haven't tried logging in yet since can't type w/out a keyboard and don't know where ours went). Heck school tycoon was fun but there's not really been a school tycoon sequel yet and I loved that one for some odd reason before it got the plague of cyclic redundancy....that always bugged me when that happened to two of the simulation games i have/had

Yeah but besides the ones I already have they usually only have edutainment or games for ps1(crapware usually that I'm not interested in) or some odd sports game(ones that kinda resemble games I must have gotten in cereal or something when I was younger). I guess I'll just keep looking :-\ Was just hoping for some good suggestions(especially some that maybe have been pc exclusive or simulation games that don't work anything like the stupid social games we have now)
