HMV "don't sell Nintendo games"

Post by Reprise »

Seriously, when did this happen? Was this in the news like when Asda said they were going to stop stocking the Wii U? I'm surprised I hadn't heard this, as it seems like one of those good ol' 'Nintendo doom and gloom' stories the games media loves to sink their teeth into.

Anyways, I was in town today looking to buy a 3DS game for my brother's birthday. When I went into HMV to have a look, I couldn't see the 3DS games, so I asked the store assistant where the games were and he told me "we don't sell Nintendo games".

I mean, seriously? I could understand them not selling Wii or Wii U games, but I thought the 3DS was doing well.

Weird. Maybe's it just my local store - but it is a pretty reasonably sized one.

Maybe some stores don't move enough Nintendo goods to justify the shelf space.

It's probably up to the local management.

I work in an electronics store that also sells video games. About 6-8 months ago, all Wii-U's were sold at a ridiculous clearance price, along with all games and accessories. Some of those still remain on clearance after all this time, which is a testament to why they were put on clearance in the first place. No one buys Nintendo any more, our gaming section is strictly Sony and Microsoft now. It may sound weird, but I can't even remember the last time that someone came in asking for Nintendo. This was a different story only two years ago.

It was great for me though, it's how I bought my brand new 3DS for $30 :D Although the only downfall was that it was bright pink...

Since just about every other piece of electronics I own is black, I guess it's nice to have a change. Change is good for the soul.
