Multiple Users on one PC using Steam?!?

Post by Frag Mortuus »

Ok, so I'm converting my PC into a media center PC with XBMC, Hyperspin, and Steam. But, what I would like to know is if with the new Steam Family sharing thing, is it possible to have myself signed in and play a game. Then have my wife come in and play the same game under her own user profile and have her own save files and what not. That way we don't have to worry about overwriting each others game saves. Pretty much the same way it works on consoles.

I'm a pretty heavy Steam user but have never used this type of setup before, but figured some of you all may have.

Thanks.

If you have your accounts setup to share, then yes it should work that way.

Meaning if you are playing Half Life and stop and log out. Your wife can come along, log into her account, use the family share to play your copy of Half Life, and the game saves will be completely separate.

The correct answer is GOG. Buy more games on GOG.

I buy a lot on there, but I'm too heavily invested in Steam now. I have 236 games on there. I do like GOG for the older games they offer. I use Steam for newer stuff.
