N64 Japanese version of "Mystical Ninja" English-friendly?

Hey guys. I recently saw a clip in a YT video of "Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon" and went nuts. I had completely forgotten about that game, and remember now playing it a lot as a kid. I must have it.

Thing is though, the prices on ebay kinda suck. Seems like they're all about $30+ for a loose cart in OK condition. The prices of the Japanese version are much more reasonable, but is enjoyment (or even playability) of the game hindered much by the lack of English? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
