revitalizing pad controllers
revitalizing pad controllers
Is there any way to revitalize a pad controller? I have a DC Fighting Pad where the pad is getting really loose. Whenever you hit left, there's a good 20-25% chance you'll also get down. Tapping up still has that transitional feel, but down is very smooshy and way too easy. Anything I can do to fix this?
Re: revitalizing pad controllers
take it apart and soak the rubber parts in isopropyl alcohol.

Wouldn't that cause the rubber to dry and become brittle?
Re: revitalizing pad controllers
You don't have to soak it, but you can clean it with alcohol. Take the controller apart and clean the rubber pads, the conductive part of them. Clean them all SEVERAL times. Take note if any of them are cracked or otherwise look bad. Also clean the gold traces on the PCB.
I know what you mean about (for example) pressing left but down is pressed along with it. So frustrating. I have a 3-button Genesis pad right now that I've been tinkering with. The D-Pad is the same way, and the A and B buttons are shitty as well. They went from not working unless I pressed really hard to working OK to not working at all. Yeah, it's annoying.
For membranes that are worn out, I tried this: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=45141
Those keypad buttons quickly went back to not working so great after just a few days though. There were a few products on Amazon that I really wanna try, but haven't had the extra money...
