Lunar Silver Star Story

Post by soniklife »

Correct if I am wrong but was this only released for the Sega Saturn in Japan? Has anyone translated it for use on the Saturn (i.e like the Shining Force 3 translation project)? I ask because I have it for the Sega CD and my Sega CD is broken so I am thinking about selling all of those games because the only two games I enjoy for that system are Lunar and Sonic CD so I have no desire to replace it but if possible i'd like play Lunar on my modded Saturn.

I doubt anyone will bother translating the Saturn version when the PS1 version was translated by Working Designs, and it's considered the ultimate version.

The PS1 versions of Lunar are really great! Graphics, sound quality and dialog have been upaded big time. They can be a bit pricey, though. I need to by them too, i only have the Sega CD version right now.

But seriously you don't like any other games on sega cd???!!!! If you like rpg's there is also Vay, strategy rpg's: Dark Wizard (precursor to Dragon Force), action/rpg: Popful Mail, Shmups: Robo Aleste, Android Assualt, Lords of Thunder, and the only 2 player arcarde version of Final Fight!!! Plus no copy protection so you can play burns or convert your imports to region 1 and play.

You can't seriously want to get rid of it your sega cd??!! Iit's become one of my favorite systems when i found out, despite how many crap titles there are, how many great ones there are too!!

Eventually sometime in the future I will play the Lunar games. But reading people's comments on-line some say that the Mega CD versions are better. Something about better music I think.

Maybe the music is, but I hadn't noticed. The big improvements are the graphics, especially the backrounds and number of sprites in the characters. I love the Sega Cd version, but the PS1 version does look alot better.

actually i own vay which from what i recall is an awesome game. i have a fairly decent size collection of sega cd games that i have owned since i was 16 (i am 30 now) but most of them i just don't find enjoyable any longer. in fact some of them are just downright awful. there are a few good ones that i own, such as lunar, vay, ecco the dolphin, sonic cd, silpheed, lethal enforcers, and rise of the dragon. maybe i'll hang on the lunar and vay just in case i find an affordable sega cd at some point but it just isn't high on the priority list. especially since i just recently got a dreamcast and a modded saturn. man i love those systems!

Haha I guess I didn't read very well cause I didn't realize yours broke!

So yeah....just wait a while until you see one real cheap on craigs list! But seriously keep the games!! I just got rise of the dragon for 4 bucks and it seems cool, I still want to pick up snatcher if i can find it cheap enough!

I understand that the Saturn's Lunar SS MPEG version is supposed to be just as good as the PS1 version, if better in a few areas.

it looked great! i had the mpeg version and the mpeg card for a short while and i was amazed my saturn was outputting such great quality (and through an s-video cable). i don't remember what the general gripe about the playstation version was though...
