Flexible music organiser
I burned hundreds of albums over a myriad of DVD's, and the ordinary tree/F>txt method doesn't cut it any longer. All music managers I encountered only scan local media. Is there one that scans and catalogs according to disc label?

To be honest, I really don't understand what you need. However, if you're on a *nix based system, MPD is a fantastic music database, that's very lightweight. You can get pretty creative with it at the filesystem level, and you can script it as well. It may work on Windows through Cygwin or something similar, but I'm not sure. I'd say it's worth looking into at least, takes a little bit of effort to setup, but is incredibly solid once it's running. Also great for networked music, so you can have a computer dedicated to storing your music, and access it from other machines around the house, or even remotely, though that's a little bit more complicated.

Wait, you want a music manager that can scan removable media, like burned DVDs and CDs and the like, and then store catalog information on your PC about what you have in your library and which disc or whatever it is on?
I'm not familiar with anything that does this, although some open source music managers might have plug-ins or something that allow for this. You might consider one of those home media database programs, though you'd then have to record a ton of info on your own as they tend not to incorporate the kinds of scans a traditional music manager does.
Is your burned media standard audio tracks or storage for compressed audio files? That could make a difference. If it is just a matter of reading the tags of compressed files, there's a greater chance you'll find something that does this.
Here's an article on some music managers in the open source world.
I think Foobar is the most likely to accommodate your arrangement.
