PS3 with no controller
PS3 with no controller
I came across a slim PS3 that I don't plan on keeping. I just want to check the firmware version but I have no controller for it. I tried a couple USB keyboards with no luck. Any other way to check firmware? Or am I forced to buy a controller...

Seconded. When I owned a PS3, I used a Saturn controller on a USB adapter until I needed a DS3Anapan wrote:Try a USB controller

What's it coming up to when you turn it on? I know the PS3 is supposed to support nearly any USB keyboard, along with a lot of USB gamepads. I just tested a cheap Logitech USB keyboard I had around and it didn't work in the Amazon streaming app, but once I backed out to the XMB interface it worked. Same with a couple old USB PC gamepads. If it was wiped though, I know that the initial setup tells you to connect a PS3 controller via USB cable, so it might not be as flexible at that point.
