what's the best thing you've ever got for free?

The original Protect-O-Plate for my 1965 Malibu SS. If you aren't into GM musclecars, this won't make much sense to you but suffice it to say this is an undeniably valuable piece of documentation to have for an all original or restored GM musclecar. Recently the previous owner contacted me to tell me he found these old documents that belong with the car (I bought it from him in 1981!) and that I should have them. When I received these documents, the value of my old car (which is already quite substantial if I do say so myself) increased by at least 10-15%. But since the car is not now nor ever will be for sale the value issue isn't nearly as important at the historical factor of these old documents.

I probably resort to that because all I've gotten is a mere Genesis console. Oh well.
