Sounds reasonable. Nintendo's first party games have been of consistent quality for decades, but there's an increasing apathy towards their franchises and it's reflecting on review scores and even sales.

Seriously, these 9 or 10 review scores should be reserved for Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto!

Oh look, reviewers are criticizing Tropical Freeze for things I was already saying about the last game. Nice to see the slow ones finally catching up

I am on the internet and I am angry that some people like things that other people don't like.

The author makes a lot of claims that, frankly, significantly worse than Nintendo games being a bit of a critical darling.

Adam Barnes wrote:But if some outlets are willing to throw 9s and 10s at a game that doesn’t actually do much new then how can readers filter out a good Nintendo game from a bad one?

Barnes presumes that a game that isn't innovative doesn't deserve good marks because it isn't a good game. That innovation is the most important part of a game, everything else is secondary.

It's also weird he complains about readers being unable to filter the good from the bad when most games Now Gamer has reviewed have a score of seven or higher. In the first 100 reviews there are only two games with a score less than 5.0. And since they don't give out 9s and 10s very often they barely use a third of the scale. Practically everything in that grey 7-8.5 area.

So yeah.

OT:?
Wow, you guys played these games? I'm still working through my backlog of PS2, Dreamcast (okay a little unused lately) and Gamecube games.
I don't remember the last time I actually read a professional editorial review start to finish - aren't they mostly bought?
A couple minutes on Youtube and a quick search or question here or Google are more informative than an IGN review imo. What's a Nowgamer?
